Laying out the ply to add the structuring timber...
The interlocking sections of the quarters...
Finishing the back of the sculpture...
This saturday once all the relevant sections the main structure are finished, I will be putting the whole thing together before beginning to construct the face and interior of the sculpture which will offer more of insight into what I'm actually making as at the moment most of the structure in the photos will hopefully go unnoticed when the face is finished.
To give you an idea of what the 13ft circular face will roughly look like here are two studies and images of previous works where I've used the same technique.
And in the centre of the circle within the hexagon a structure similar to the image below will be assembled, which will cascade around the sculpture pouring out from the 8ft armature that extends out the back of the sculpture.

Finished milling now beginning construction...
This is a series of images showing all the wood that has been milled and prepared for construction. Its all finally moved to the studio and the construction shall begin tomorrow morning. Essentially putting together a massive 13ft jig saw puzzle. More images to be updated at the weekend which will show progress of the sculpture coming together at a more rapid speed as the rhythm is established.
More interesting images to follow that are not just of piles of wood as the sculpture takes shape.
